The 2024 Mazda CX-90 large SUV is entering new territory for the Japanese brand, as it continues its march upmarket into the premium space currently occupied by the likes of Volvo Lexus, Genesis and the German Big 3 (BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi).
Built on a rear-wheel-drive platform, the new CX-90 succeeds the CX-9 with three-row practicality – but with the addition of petrol and diesel inline six-cylinder engine options. However, unlike the mid-size CX-60, the CX-90 forgoes a plug-in hybrid powertrain, at least for now.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Byron Mathioudakis tests the new CX-90 line-up to see if it has what it takes to eclipse the Genesis GV80 and all of its other rivals. But he also finds out if a Mazda can really be worth $100,000.
