The Mayan Legend of the Lost lord Chocolate of Tikal
The true story of who found the Mayan Lord Chocolate mummy. This historical, archaeological find was done by a Mayan himself.
An exclusive interview arranged for us by the Black Jaguar (Danilo Rodriguez) on the true story behind many archeological tomb finds in Mayan Guatemala. Many of these amazing discoveries were made by Mr. Julian Tot Bol. He found more than 20 tombs of Mayan kings and royalty in Tikal and along the Blue River.
It is with great pleasure that we had these discussions with Mr. Bol and his son, Julio Yat. This video interview, a documentary of sorts, describes his find at Blue River. But the most amazing story, in the more than one hour of footage we made in Flores, Guatemala at our hotel, was the facts about the discovery and mystery behind the Lord Chocolate.
Lord Chocolate, AKA (Also Know as) "Ah Cacaw" was found in a hidden tomb, discovered by "digger" Bol at the Grand Temple I of the Giant Jaguar in lovely Tikal (Peten, Guatemala). This temple, also know as Temple of Ah Cacao (Temple of Lord Chocolate), was built in 732 AD. "Jasaw Chan K'awiil I also known as Ruler A, Ah Cacao and Sky Rain, (before 682-734), was an ajaw of the Maya city of Tikal. He took the throne on May 3, 682 and reigned until his death." And then we get into the closest part where they will acknowledge that the "digger" was responsible for this find. Actually, as you will hear in this exclusive interview done on location in Tikal, Guatemala, it was even his own initiative as the rest of the team was giving up! We read,
"The tomb proved to be elusive Expected and familiar data–floors, types of fill, sherd samples, and even caches–were encountered, collected, recorded, and studied as soon as the tunnel had penetrated the stairway, but none of the customary signs that forecast a burial was recognized until the excavation had been pushed about twenty-five feet toward the center of the pyramid. The presence of quantities of flint and obsidian chips in fill overlying tomb construction is a distinctive trait of Maya burial practices in the Peten, and numerous instances have been found at Tikal in association with burials of both Early Classic and Late Classic periods. Consequently, when the pickman began to encounter pockets of flint chips in the stone and mud-mortar fill it was optimistically taken for granted that an important burial was not far ahead or below the area that"
It is interesting to note about Temple I (Temple of the Grand Jaguar,). The Maya in Tikal considered Temple I to be a portal to the Underworld itself. “His royal tomb included several kilos of jade, shells and pottery. Ha Sawa Chaan K'awil (Lord Chocolate or "Ah Cacaw”) was almost 6 ft. tall and his body was left under Temple I after his death with a richly adorned burial, which was excavated by archaeologist Aubrey Trik in 1962. The temple complex may represent the Full Cycle of Life itself.!” Source: [ Ссылка ]
Next, we will get into the real story this Maya Kekchi tomb digger has to tell us about the claims of Aubrey Trik, the once chief archeologist in Tikal from the University of PA. We will hear how the tomb was REALLY discovered and learn that the remains and treasures of Lord Chocolate are MISSING- a true mystery!
