In 1987 Whitesnake released their magnum opus with David Coverdale and guitarist John Sykes teaming up for the first, and as it turns out, only time with massive hits like "Still Of The Night", "Is This Love", "Bad Boys" and several other great songs.
But there was a difference in the songs that were released on the European version of the album. For some reason the europeans got the 9 tracks on the US release but also got the killer ballad "Looking For Love" and the uptempo rocker that is the subject of this video "You're Gonna Break My Heart Again."
For this riff we are tuned to Drop D. The riff has all of the Sykes hallmarks: Attitude, chunky chordal work, muted double picked single note lines and just a flair for the dramatic. This song would have easily fit right in with the US release or even on John's next band Blue Murder's debut.
You'll need to play aggressively to get this one up to speed. Have fun!
Rock on!
