(14 Mar 2021) A funeral was held in Mandalay on Sunday for one of the anti-coup protesters shot dead by Myanmar security forces the previous day.
Mourners gathered at the home of Saw Pyae Naing to pay their final respects before his body began its journey to the cemetery.
The 21-year-old was one of at least four protesters killed in Mandalay on Saturday when police fired live ammunition at anti-coup demonstrators.
At least seven people died across the country on another day when the military government ignored widespread international demands to stop using lethal force.
The independent UN human rights expert for Myanmar, Tom Andrews, on Thursday cited growing evidence of crimes against humanity since the military ousted the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi last month.
