The LGM-118A Peacekeeper was the most technologically advanced ICBM in U.S. Arsenal history and served from 1986 to 2005. Originally, it was developed to replace the Minuteman ICBMs. It was stored in hardened underground silos but they were also built specifically to live on mobile railway cars to avoid direct detection from the USSR. The Peacekeeper carried more warheads than any other U.S. missile in history. It could accurately deliver multiple nuclear warheads on different targets from one missile and from the same payload. Its payload was 10 MK-21 re-entry warheads. The rocket had a 6,000 mile range, traveling at 15,000 mph. The rocket and payload weighed in at 195,000 lbs. and was a four-stage missile.
