GETTING THE CALL that he'd been cast to play Lt. Matthew Scott on STARGATE UNIVERSE changed Brian J. Smith's life. The young actor was fresh out of school, performing on stage in New York and bartending on the side. He would uproot his life and move across the continent to Vancouver, British Columbia, for two years of learning the craft of television from some of the best seasoned veterans and rising young talent.

In this conversation with "Dial the Gate" Brian fondly recalls this time in his life, what he learned from his castmates, ... and the first thing he bought with his steady paycheck.
