In this video we explore one of Thailand's most unique attractions. The Sticky Waterfall (Bua Thong Waterfall) is located about an hour's drive from the city of Chiang Mai. Get there by taxi or song thaew, it's a fun afternoon if you're ready for a respite from the city hustle.
The Sticky Waterfall is so called for its traction that seems to defy gravity. Visitors get to climb up boulders that would typically be slick with algae. Instead the minerals from the fall have coated the rocks in a layer of lime. The white lime crust is sorta like sandpaper without any of the pain. Actually a better analogy would be comparing it to shark skin--coarse but soft at the same time.
The park also includes Nam Phu Chet Si spring which is the source of the waterfall. We visited the spring first, then stashed our belongings in a locker before trekking to the bottom of the falls. There are restrooms, camping, cabins and restaurants available. This is such a fun adventure just off the beaten path from Chiang Mai!
