The Greek Parliament has voted unanimously to suspend state funding for the far-right party Golden Dawn.
The new law allows an indefinite funding freeze for parties whose leadership is charged with links to criminal groups or terrorism.
Golden Dawn's leader and two MPs are awaiting trial accused of being part of a criminal organisation.
Golden Dawn's Deputy Leader told parliament that the amendment to cut state funding for Golden Dawn was "illegal and unconstitutional and should have been thrown in the bin."
He quoted from the Greek constitution saying it "stated that political parties are entitled to financial support from the state for the election and their operating costs, as stated by law."
There have been growing calls for the party to be banned completely after the murder of an anti-fascist musician, allegedly by a supporter of Golden Dawn.
Athens has set aside 11m euros (£9.3m) for elected parties in 2013 including 873,000 euros for Golden Dawn, it said.
Golden Dawn officially denies being a neo-Nazi movement, despite its swastika-like insignia.
