Lucy Yeghiazaryan sings Lonely House from Street Scene, by Kurt Weill and Langston Hughes, in her Semifinal Program at the 2022 American Traditions Vocal Competition, representing the Opera category. Lucy is accompanied by Matthew Umphreys and sponsored by Joseph Bell, III and BellKlean.
The American Traditions Vocal Collection celebrates, performs and preserves all classic styles of American music. Founded as a part of Savannah Onstage in 1993, the ATC was first a vehicle strictly for Black Singers to perform Black American Music. Today, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization promotes all classic styles of American songs and focuses on what musically connects us. The ATC accomplishes this through musical events and educational offerings, such as classroom experiences for local students, their regional high school singing competition, the Junior ATC, and their annual, international vocal competition for professional artists, the American Traditions Vocal Competition. The organization annually awards over $35,000 in cash prizes, and is dedicated to enriching the lives of audiences through musical diversity, and engaging the minds of tomorrow’s musicians and music lovers.
