I remember Manitoba fiddler Ella Cook playing this tune in many competitions. Ella was a wonderful player and rarely didn’t get first place in any contest she entered. I’ve driven through her town of Portage la Prairie a few times in the past couple weeks and it made me think of many of the fiddlers who I grew up listening to.
