Hey guys, gear comparison test today !! I’m using 5 vintage acoustic arch tops heated with floating pickups :
-1936 Gibson L5 with DeArmond Mike (thomastik nickel flats 13)
-1936 Epiphone Deluxe with DeArmond Rythm chief 1000 (d’addario nickel round 12)
-1942 D’Angelico Excel with DeArmond Rythm chief 1000 (d’addario nickel round 13)
-1951 Gibson L7-C with Mccarthy pickup (thomastik Benson nickel round 12 with wound G)
-1964 Epiphone Deluxe cutaway with DeArmond Rythm chief 1100 (Ernie ball nickel round 12)
I’m noodling around the famous Charlie Parker tune from 1946 « Yardbird Suite » (play along from M2 : [ Ссылка ])
The guitars are plugged into a 1968 « drip edge » Fender Princeton Reverb amp, and the sound is captured with both a Neumann TLM 103 and a Bluebird (I usually use only the 103 on the amp, so I’ve tried to put both but it doesn’t seam to « open » the sound as much as when I do it on the acoustic sound of the arch tops). I’m playing a 1.5 vortex dunlop pick.
