WE DID IT - $15 Million more for Bowral Hospital
Today I am pleased to announce that with your help I have secured a further $15 million dollars for Bowral Hospital.
This is on top of the $50 million I secured in the previous budget now bringing total spend on Bowral Hospital to $65 million.
I always said that the $50 million was stage 1 and I would be fighting for more. Today we got the extra money which will now upgrade the Emergency Department. This is stage 2.
Our ED's are often the first contact many people have with our hospital and we need to ensure it is first class and fit for purpose. This will bring all 24 hour services into a single building.
I want our community to recieve the best possible medical care and this commitment delivers that. As a father of 3 wonderful boys, I know how important are hospitals are.
The investment builds upon the $50 million investment in 2015/16 to redevelop the hospital and deliver a new building for clinical services to provide improved access for patients and respond to future demand for services.
The new building will deliver:
• New operating theatres
• Adult and paediatric inpatient services
• Maternity services
• More single rooms with ensuites
• Rehabilitation spaces
• A new entrance for the hospital
Early works are already underway at Bowral and District Hospital.
I thank our great community helping me to get additional funding for Bowral Hospital. This is a record investment into the hospital and I am glad I could secure this funding before I retire from politics.
