This is the quaint Bricktown Historic District in downtown, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

I discovered it in a brochure when I pulled over at a Visitors Welcome Center when crossing the Texas/Oklahoma border.

From on top of this bridge I was standing on….you could see how very much this touristy part of OKC resembles the Riverwalk area of San Antonio, Texas.
You have the charming little river running straight through the heart of the Bricktown Historic District with restaurants, bars and pubs situated off to each side.
If you’re interested in coming here and having a pleasant meal outside, they offer plenty of seating with tables and chairs, especially during evening times with lights set among the pedestrian walking pathway.

This Bricktown Historic District is not even 1 mile long….maybe 1/2 a mile at the most.
So although it’s not nearly as long the San Antonio Riverwalk, still it resembles it as sort of a miniature version.
You can even take one of those vintage riverboat rides that leads you down the waters.

Also here in downtown OKC is across the street being Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, home of the Dodgers Minor League Baseball Franchise.
I actually went to a game back over the summertime when I was here on a beautifully sunny Sunday afternoon.

A little further away from this district is the Paycom Center, home of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder.
About 25 miles away is the college town of Norman, OK and the Oklahoma Sooners.

Of course while in OKC I had my fair share of BBQ to immerse myself in the heart of midwest cuisine.

Overall, I believe visiting Oklahoma City is worthwhile for a nice getaway weekend.
There’s enough to do and see making for those who have never explored this city….a cool destination.

Btw, I did spend time and toured the OKC National Memorial and Museum dedicated to the tragedy of the 1995 bombing.
