Olga holds an MA degree in Translation and Localization Management (Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey) and two BAs (Creative Writing from Gorky Literature Institute and Teaching French and English from Kaluga State University). She worked as a freelance translator and interpreter for seven years. Now Olga is a Localization Project Coordinator at the translation and localization agency Venga Global, Inc. (the US office).
She also volunteers as an admin of the frussie.com website and Facebook page (France), and as a localizer for Future Actually charity fund (Russia). Olga is an Amateur winner of the LocJAM2 video game translation contest (2015). You can find more info about Olga at www.olgamelnikoff.com.
In her presentation, Olga shares the best practices of subtitles creation, speaks about the subtitling software and file formats, including YouTube subtitles, and describes the workflow for subtitling projects they are managing at Venga Global. The fun part includes an overview of why subtitles have become so popular now, a process of how to create subtitles by yourself and a couple of videos that will make you smile.
