A current article on website FastCompany.com has provided readers with public speaking tips taken from celebrities and politicians. In today's video, we focus on the importance of using natural expressions when presenting as highlighted in the article.
According to reports, a person's fear when presenting stifles expressiveness which results in the audience feeling distanced from the speaker. It is suggested that the use of expression are found in day to day conversations and it is these that make an individual interesting.
Suggestions are made that speeches should be delivered with facial expressions, hand gestures, pacing and altered vocal pitch in order to close the gap between the presenter and the audience. It is suggested that with practice, natural expressiveness can be used when presenting, as seen in actors who rehearse to ensure they appear unscripted.
We asked Andy Harrington, a public speaking expert, for his thoughts on incorporating natural expressiveness when presenting. His comments are included within the video itself.
