Asheville, North Carolina is a town where artists are built up by other artists. Existing here as a creator is easy when there are always others who are willing to sit in on your art, lend a helping hand, open up their doors, or meet up to discuss projects. This Old Home Place Recording was filled with collaboration of the best kind. I walked over to the local record shop, Harvest Records, pitched the idea of shooting a video in their shop and they were instantly interested. The Moon and You showed up and laid down an absolute hit of a song, and my pals Ben and Bridger captured extra footage and fabulous audio. A local film crew, local band in a local record shop. It's as good as it gets folks.

At its core, The Moon and You is a charismatic husband-and-wife team. Melissa Hyman plays cello, Ryan Furstenberg plays guitar and banjo. They were joined by Ross Montsinger on the drums for this Old Home Place Recording. These folks are friendly, funny, and unbelievably talented. I felt like we became fast friends on set and I look forward to seeing and hearing more from this band!
I first heard Ryan play in a band called Uncle Mountain on the banks of the New River Gorge back in 2013. I have listened to Ryan's voice ever since because I have one of their songs set as my wake up alarm. When I learned he lived in Asheville I figured it was only a matter of time before our paths would cross again. Love the full circle nature of creativity.
