Written during the winter of 2007, the work represents in a metaphorical way the three moods of a brief but intense love cycle.
The first movement, Poniente (rainy wind that arrives from the west and place where the sun sets and therefore herald of the night) represents the beginning, the happy and fresh agitation of something new. The violin sings happy and evocative over the constant movement of the guitar that, far from making a function merely of accompaniment, exerts a contrapuntal role in its superior voice, with a rhythmic and thematically constant formula that makes a contrast to the freshness and spontaneity of the violin.
