On The Scene: A U.S. amphibious assault ship has docked in Cyprus as part of a pre-arranged visit, but could be used to support civilians if hostilities flare in the Middle East, the U.S. ambassador to Cyprus said. Meanwhile, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered the deployment of a guided missile submarine to the Middle East, the Pentagon said on Sunday (August 11), as the region braces for possible attacks by Iran and its allies after the killing of senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah.
