It was revealed over the weekend by Microsoft's Security blog that a new, very damaging malware operation has been targeting several Ukrainian government, non-profit and information technology groups.
The software is disguised as a ransomware assault, providing a ransom letter, a single Bitcoin wallet, and a single Tox ID for payment. A ransomware often encrypts the Master Boot Record (MBR) and then decrypts it after a reboot. Additionally, the virus has the ability to overwrite files with a variety of extensions.
