September 28, 2022
Anchored on the Administration’s ‘Build Better More’ program, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. affirmed the government’s strong commitment in providing better infrastructure projects throughout the country as he graced the grand opening of the New Terminal Building of Clark International Airport located within Clark Freeport in Mabalacat, Pampanga on September 28, 2022.
In an effort to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in the National Capital Region (NCR) or Metro Manila, the 110,000 square-meter New Terminal Building of Clark International Airport is built to accommodate around eight (8) million passengers per year and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for a much safer and efficient travel.
President Marcos Jr. reiterated that this is the government’s clear direction towards achieving a more developed infrastructure era in the Philippines, highlighting that it points to the vision he has for the country. With the opening of the New Terminal Building, the Chief Executive said that this would usher a more vibrant tourism and business environment in Region III or Central Luzon. Likewise, the project exemplifies a successful public-private partnership (PPP).
Construction of the New Terminal Building was completed in 2020 despite the restrictions and challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is projected to create more jobs and advance socioeconomic activities in Central Luzon.
