AMX International AMX is a ground-attack close air support and reconnaissance aircraft manufactured by AMX. The AMX International was designated A-1 by the Brazilian Air Force, and A-11 Ghibli by the Italian Air Force. The AMX International AMX main role is ground attack in visual and marginal weather conditions with primary roles in long range strike, air interdiction, close air support, reconnaissance and armed patrol. The AMX can carry up to 3,800kg of air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, bombs and munitions on seven hardpoints. The maiden flight of the AMX International AMX took place on the 15th of May 1984 and it went into service in 1989. Primary users are the Italian Air Force and the Brazilian Air Force. There were approx. 200 AMX International AMX produced between 1986 and 1999. The AMX International AMX is still in active service. Cost per unit was approx 10 million USD.
