August 14-15, 2023 -- Just before leaving the Highlands of Cape Breton, I spotted my first and only moose while on my Eastern Seaboard adventure. I was excited as I had been skunked in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine despite being in their prime habitat. I didn't miss this chance due to a kind lady on the side of the road who didn't mind looking a little silly flashing "antler" hands on the sides of her head. After this wonderful sighting, I headed to Sydney on the east coast of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada. Sydney was founded in 1785 by the British and served as the Cape Breton Island's colonial capital, until 1820, when the colony merged with Nova Scotia and the capital moved to Halifax.
