This is a great example of a common problem we see with older boat AC units - damaged evaporator coils. These coils are where the refrigerant flows as it is depressurized - changing state from a vapor to a fluid - and cooling substantially in the process. When they are bent (as here), airflow is severely restricted, which adds stress to your boat's AC system. It also means that your coils may freeze up as the warm air from your boat doesn't pass through quickly enough to prevent the moisture in the air from freezing on the coils.
