Today we're checking out this great promo 12" from the funk-disco master Edwin Birdsong. This record contains two versions - a long and short version - of the track "Lollipop" from his self titled album released in 1979. Compared to the album version of the track, this rendition sounds more processed and 'clean'. To me it doesn't really match the brilliance of the loose album version, but it's still really great and has the perfect formula to be a hit in the clubs. It's also "cue grooved" which makes it easier for DJ's to skip to the chorus etc. Just great, and the same goes for the mastering on here!
Feel free to subscribe, like the video and share it with other music lovers, since it's what keeps me motivated to keep the channel going. Also feel free to discuss this record in the comments, I'll be down there waiting! Enjoy.

« My Ripping Process »
The audio in this video is taken straight from the raw recording; no audio manipulation such as EQ-ing or declicking done whatsoever.
Prior to ripping, the record is dry-cleaned with a carbon fiber brush to remove surface dust. Record is then played through and recorded with a Zoom H1n, directly plugged into my passive preamp, in uncompressed .wav (24bit 96khz). Both video and audio is then transferred to my PC, where I edit them together as well as add graphics using Vegas Pro. The audio remains completely unaltered here apart from being peak-normalized to reach an optimal level. The video is then rendered at 4K with a compressed stream of audio. Before uploading, the resulting rendered video is muxed together with an uncompressed .wav (24bit 96khz) of the video's audio using MKVToolNix, resulting in completely unharmed, uncompressed audio prior to being uploaded to YouTube. In other words - this is as pure as it can get! :)
