I was trying to find a good fivestring bass for quite a while and tested a couple of warwicks, in particular the Streamer LX 2011 (see my other video) and a thumb singlecut. I was neither happy with the LX 2011 which had a rather duck-like mid sound nor with the SC5 which didn't have a slap sound I liked. On my way out of the shop I saw that ESP and thought.. what the heck, I'l give it a go.. and I fell in love with it. To me it sounded the best of the ones I have tested, regardless of price. I was surprised when I found out, that that instrument was a 440 euro bass (compared to the 3200 and 5000 Euro the 'wicks cost) - would easily have a expected many times more than that. I have to say I love the way the warwicks play, their hardware and what they sound like in general - but the ESP LTD clearly has the better bang for the buck here. 3 Band EQ, fast neck, nice low B, nice RnB, Funk and Rock sounds. The action can not be set as low as the warwicks but is still comfortable.
