A big stack of thorny rose prunings is a resource! See how I reuse it in my chicken coop to help solve a problem.
Stacking functions = when elements in our garden serve multiple roles/do multiple jobs instead of one, we increase our efficiency, and conserve resources/time/space/cost. Stacking functions means we get more bang for each buck in our garden/homestead and become more resilient people.
Stacking functions can be as simple as taking a waste item (such as rose prunings) and using it purposefully to save labor or increase a yield. I have found my roses not only bring beauty, feed pollinators, create shade, but even their thorny prunings can serve a purpose in the garden ecosystem.
