In November 2019, the Denver Art Museum hosted members of the Wallace Family, descendants of the original owners of the house frontal pole and memorial pole in the museum’s collection, to commemorate their raising in the newly renovated Northwest Coast gallery. With the assistance of Demiurge LLC, the museum’s conservation and exhibitions and collections departments prepared the poles for reinstallation. During the ceremony, Lee Wallace and his great-great-nephew Tristen escorted the poles while they were moved into position, during which Lee’s daughter Markel and her cousins Valesha and Andrea sang Haida songs. The two-day event culminated in a celebratory feast and dancing led by the family.
