The Corsair destroyed almost 11 enemy aircraft for every Corsair shot down in World War Two. In about five months, Corsairs flown by the pilots of the VF-17 Jolly Rogers squadron shot down 156 enemy planes and sunk 5 enemy ships. One of the aircraft featured in this video, number 34, was named "L.A. City Limits" by its pilot Chico Freeman. The leader of the squadron was Lieutenant Commander John Thomas Blackburn who flew number 1, the "Big Hog."
