France delivered the first Dassault Rafale fighter jet to Croatia. Secondly, Croatia will receive a total of 12 aircraft.
Croatian Defense Minister Mario Banozic stated that the first Rafale multi-purpose fighter jet was delivered to Croatia today at a base belonging to the French Air Force, and that the first six aircraft will be in Croatia at the beginning of the second quarter of next year.
Croatia and France signed an agreement on the purchase of Rafales in late 2021. In this context, Croatia is purchasing 12 4.5+ generation Rafale fighter jets produced by the French aviation company Dassault Aviation for the Air Force.
Within the scope of the agreement, Croatia will pay 1.155 billion euros for 12 second-hand Rafale fighter jets in the F3R configuration. The oldest of the aircraft to be delivered is 10 years old. The first 6 aircraft will be delivered to France in 2024, and the remaining 6 aircraft will be delivered in 2025. The contract, worth approximately 1 billion euros, includes training activities and the supply of ammunition.
The aircraft will also have the ability to use advanced missile systems such as METEOR and SCALP-EG.
