The Chatuchak Weekend Market is the world's largest weekend market and Bangkok's most popular shopping destination.
It's open every weekend and contains more than 15,000 booths, selling goods from every part of Thailand.
Here, you can find everything from clothes, furniture and hand made crafts, to plants, food, toys and even animals. Plus, since the market is really geared towards Thais, almost everything can be found here at a bargain - not a tourist price.
I spent the morning exploring Chatuchak and put together a short video to capture the experience and hopefully help (a little) if you are planning on visiting.
Chatuchak market is loosely divided into 27 sections, although you will often find things jumbled up:
***
Section 1 – Jewelry, books, and collectibles.
Sections 2 to 4 – Souvenirs, home decor, paintings, and handicrafts.
Sections 5 to 6 – Vintage clothes (well...mostly second hand clothes - maybe avoid) and accessories
Sections 7 to 9 – Antiques, art, furniture, and ceramics, plants and gardening equipment.
Section 10 to 24 – Fashion and accessories, consumer products, household appliances, toys, pet accessories.
Section 17 to 19 – Ceramics, fresh and dry food goods.
Section 22 to 26 – More antiques, furniture, clothing, jewelry and handicrafts.
Section 27 – Books, collectibles, food and sweet treats.
Happy shopping!
