King Charles announced government plans for new oil and gas licences as part of the first King's Speech of his reign.
The announcement came as part of a wider package to attempt to ease inflation and 'ease the burden' on households as Britain tries to meet its climate commitments.
The King, a long-time environmentalist, delivered the government's legislative agenda for the year for the first time since becoming monarch in 2022.
