👉 12 Distinctions to Change Your Listening

Consider these variations in what you can recognize by ear and/or sing

- familiar-sounding melodies played on your instrument
- pitches played by other instruments in the same register as your instrument
- pitches in other registers (such as for a violinist to recognize bass tones).
- unfamiliar melodies like bebop, chromatic, or Hedwig's Theme.
- melodies played with unfamiliar articulations or rhythms
- sing intervals from a starting note
- sight sing a melody from a score
- chords
- chord qualities ( "I don't know the key but it's a Major 7").
- find one pitch without a reference (i.e. "I can sing an "A" if I think about it long enough"
- find any (of 12) pitches without a reference.
- sing microtones like G half flat, A double sharp, A 442, A 444, etc...
