We love the international perspective that the students have. That's why we always want to come here to Les Roches.
The Postgraduate Diploma programme is very much looking at targeting career switchers and young entrepreneurs in the industry who need additional operational knowledge and understanding of certain aspects of a very broad business.
When you change industries or when you study something else before and you want to enter the world of hospitality, you have to have an overview of how it works.
The PGD programme lasts for one year, the first semester is an academic semester where you will be on campus, you will take courses such as finance, revenue, leadership, events management, organisational behaviour, innovation and design and facilities management.
Then the second semester is an internship in the industry, the programme itself is being built around needed knowledge.
Here we have students from all over the world, I think more than 100 nationalities, so that makes me feel confident also to work in different environments with different teams.
Our PGD programme includes a field trip that gives us the opportunity to validate all the skills and knowledge that the students have acquired during the academic semester.
The opportunities of meeting the general managers, the heads of each department and asking them the sort of questions that a normal person can't ask.
This trip is a very good opportunity for professional networking. In the majority of the cases we have students that after the trip, they get a new internship in the destination that we visit.
We take you when you arrive on campus, and from there we prepare you for this for the following semester that will be your internship. We will not only guide you in how to prepare your curriculum, how to create your LinkedIn profile, how to face an interview, but we also put you in contact with the industry.
I did my internship at the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong.
Right now, I'm doing my six month internship with the Portman Ritz-Carlton here in Shanghai.
So we always keep a very close eye to what's happening in the industry and the potential demand from employers.
The Les Roches graduate students come to us because they want to receive the most outstanding support by the career services so that they get closer to their future career aspirations. This is why the career services department puts in place a tailor-made and personalised approach; so that each student is heard, understood and we move together towards the identification of the best next career step. We have every type of company recruiting Les Roches students, from major hotel brands to technology companies or to any type of service providers.
Les Roches is always been a very truthful partner to us.
Actually, hospitality profiles are very, very sought after in recruitment. Because of that customer mindset.
Les Roches is attractive to us for the standard of the students that come out of here, and we want those students to be part of our success. We need the best of the best.
