It was almost a year ago that we got our first taste of Kitten, during their debut at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles. The scene was a 1930's warehouse, converted into an informal watering hole for wide-eyed youth, thirsting for some music with their good time. There was no need to stand on ceremony and no call to impress. Then, in every respect, Kitten took the stage. They commandeered the crowd with a flood of all encompassing sound, heart-starting beats, and a captivating, no holds barred performance by the band's frontwoman, Chloe Chaidez. At only 18 years old, the maturity of her stage presence was comparable to such greats as Karen O, Shirley Manson, and Gwen Stefani.
Following this show, it's not difficult to imagine how thrilled we were that Kitten agreed to perform for an Ice Cream Session. Their youthful electro pop beats and high-energy showmanship ensured a great time, while their strong '80s post-punk influence and
"dreamy-vocals-drenched-in-attitude" carried a nostalgic charm alluding to another time in music when classics were made. A time of garage bands, teenage angst, and summertime pool parties with friends, new and old.
We can't wait to see what Kitten has in store for us in the future. Look out for the release of their debut full length album, coming soon! As for now, check out how hard they rocked Tune Parade's Ice Cream Session. The ice cream was fine, but our faces melted.
