Stryper.
Only the '80s could have produced this band. It was KISS meets the Killer Bees from SNL.
Of course, given their costumes, their genre of music and the fact that they represented themselves to be a Christian band, they were dismissed as a novelty act, as a joke. .
But then people started to actually listen to them. And realizing that they were actually serious musicians, even if they and their style of music wasn't one's taste.
For me, Stryper was a guilty pleasure. And when they came out with their Christmas tunes, it just sort of fit the era. I mean, why not?!
Their version of "Winter Wonderland" remains one of my standard holiday tunes, one that I play and just enjoy it for what it is!
Behold, Stryper's "Winter Wonderland"!!!
