The legendary rock band Aerosmith may be preparing to say goodbye to their fans with a farewell tour. The band's official website and social media accounts have posted a mysterious countdown clock that will end on Monday, April 30, at 10 a.m. ET. The clock is accompanied by the words "Peace Out" and a logo of a winged skull.
Fans have been speculating that the countdown is related to a possible announcement of a final tour, as the band has hinted at retiring from the road in the past. In 2016, guitarist Joe Perry told Rolling Stone that the band was planning a "farewell tour" for 2017, but later clarified that it was not a definite decision. "We're at the end of our career as a band," he said. "We're not going to be able to do this into our 70s – and I don't want people coming to see us and saying, 'They used to be better.'"
Aerosmith, formed in Boston in 1970, is one of the most successful and influential rock bands of all time, with over 150 million albums sold worldwide and numerous awards and honors, including four Grammys, six American Music Awards and 10 MTV Video Music Awards. The band is known for their classic hits such as "Dream On", "Walk This Way", "Sweet Emotion", "Love in an Elevator" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing". The band has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The band's last studio album was Music from Another Dimension! in 2012, and their last tour was Deuces Are Wild, a Las Vegas residency that ran from 2019 to 2020. The band had to cancel several shows due to health issues of Perry and lead singer Steven Tyler, who turned 75 in March.
Fans are eagerly waiting for Monday's announcement to see if Aerosmith will indeed embark on one last tour to celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band and bid farewell to their loyal followers. As Tyler once sang, "You got to lose to know how to win."
