In this video we explain how to install an external power supply with your Nest Thermostat in easy to follow step-by-step instructions.
This procedure will prevent the battery inside of the Nest thermostat to run out of energy, which sometimes causes the Wi-Fi of the Nest to stop working, the display to shut off and eventually the entire Nest thermostat to shut down.
The temporary fix is to recharge the battery manually, by connecting the micro-USB port on the backside of the display to an USB charger.
The permanent solution is to install an external 24 Volt AC power supply.
We explain exactly how to do this and what to consider, if you have only a furnace or if you also have an Air-Conditioning unit (A/C).
