This a translated version of Japanese Contra aka Gryzor for NES.
I prefer this version to the American Contra and the European version for a couple of reasons.
The backgrounds are animated in the jungle, snowfield, and alien lair.
Also, the game has an actual story and cutscenes leading into every area.
My favorite is when the antenna comes out for the walkie talkie and when he is standing up and unloads a full clip.
The European version, Probotector, is all about robots shooting robots and I just don't relate to it in the same way since I grew up with American Contra.
I used the Konami code here: UP,UP,DOWN,DOWN,LEFT,RIGHT,LEFT,RIGHT,B,A,B,A, START. To start off with 30 lives.
I ran into trouble at the base boss after the waterfall, but ending with 30 lives is my new personal record.
Mostly, you want (S)preadshot with (R)apidfire.
This game is harder with 2 players,so I might revisit this with a friend.
I do not own the rights to this game. My footage is original and I have created and uploaded this video to the best of my understanding of the fair use act.
Thank you for watching. Enjoy.
