Riding around the East Cape of New Zealand is one of the "must do" motorcycle rides. My weekend ride was north from Napier, turn inland at Wiaroa and take the relatively untraveled "Tiniroto Rd" through to Gisborne. Then take SH2 "Waioeka Rd" north to Opotiki where I stayed the night.Day 2 was the "proper" part of the East Cape journey where I rode the Pacific Coast Highway (SH35) around the cape and back down to Gisborne. I also took the slight detour to go to the lighthouse at the East Cape.
