Butter in a cocktail? Yuuuuup! It's really not as weird as it sounds. Butter washing/fat washing is a technique used to incorporate the flavour of whatever type of "fat" is used, into whatever liquor you are using. You can use fats like butter, a good quality smoked bacon, or an oil (olive, peanut, or sesame). Regardless of what type of fat is used, the technique to incorporate it is pretty well the same. It is an incredible way of building another level of flavour in a cocktail without having to add more acidic, sweet, or bitter elements. We encourage you to try this out and play with different flavour profiles! And most importantly, have fun!
