"Sunrise" by The Pussywarmers & Réka. The 2nd single from their latest LP "I Saw Them Leaving", out on Wild Honey Records (2014).
The Sunrise.
In the beginning, the one you were not expecting.
Epiphanic, you think.
Then, as if in memoriam, hopes, ambitions, pleas and invocations -- in the cauldron, stirring, burning, causing trouble.
Because every time you end up falling asleep and you wake up with the Sunrise firmly plastered on your face.
The beauty of it all might have been in the waiting, they say, but that's cold comfort.
And then one day it all happens like in that old movie, you wake up, feeling miserable and knackered, sand and what have you in your eyes, a hopeful glance at the sea and you're ready to face the fact that the sun is up, already, behind you.
And that is a sign, a call to arms, the irrefutable proof that everything probably isn't alright and it all lies there, in that sun -- no heat from it -- hanging halfway in the sky like a force-ripe orange.
