Our gardens are changing so we can create a haven for people and wildlife.
Over summer 2023 we’ve been preparing the ground for planting. Watch the walls and roofs of our two new buildings, the Garden Kitchen and the Nature Activity Centre supported by AWS, start to emerge and the main step-free pathways begin to weave their way through the garden.
The Urban Nature Project is the Museum’s response to the increasing pressures of urbanisation, climate change and biodiversity loss on people and planet.
Using the transformation of our gardens as a springboard, the Urban Nature Project is about providing people, no matter who they are or where they live, the practical skills and tools to take action to safeguard nature in their local environment.
We’re playing our part in UK urban nature recovery to make a difference to people and planet.
Our new gardens are due to open in summer 2024.
