The best youtube thumbnail file format, for thumbnails larger than 2MB.

YouTube allows 3 file sizes to upload: JPG, PNG and GIF.
GIF has only 256 colors, not a viable option for a thumbnail.

PNG has the best quality, but with a lot of colors you will run into the error "file size too big"
JPG has the best image compression, therefore is the best option to use as a thumbnail.
Personally, I always export my thumbnails as JPG in 1920 x 1080 resolution and I never ran into "file size too big"

If you want to upload a thumbnail larger than 2mb use a .JPG.
