This special event will explain a new requirement for Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans to build partnerships and coordinate care with other agencies, including regional centers, county behavioral health, and IHSS. A senior official at California’s Department of Health Care Services will describe the new guidance they issued, which is a roadmap to ensure that we receive quality services in a timely way. The guidance intends to improve accountability and transparency so that each agency is aware of what they are responsible for. It’s all about breaking down the barriers to receive services.

The department created an agreement for Medi-Cal plans and regional centers, called a Memorandum of Understanding that creates a process to coordinate services and continuously evaluate the quality of care. This could mean that a regional center client can request that someone from their Medi-Cal plan be available to attend their IPP (Individual Program Plan) meetings with the regional center. This will prevent individuals and their families from bouncing from one agency to the other to get services.
