Physical therapy can be very beneficial for men presenting with symptoms related to pooping, peeing, and engaging in sexual activity. When the muscles are too tight or too weak, men can also experience pain in their pelvic region including pain of the urethra, penis, scrotal contents, groin, perineum, rectum, hip, back, etc. Pelvic floor physical therapy can be particularly helpful for men who identify certain positions or activities that improve or worsen their pain. Often times, a mental health provider can also help with coping strategies and pain management (it's NEVER all in one's head and EVERYONE can benefit from speaking with a specialist, especially for those with chronic pain). The best approach to pelvic pain involves an interdisciplinary approach.
