Arguably THE most popular trail in Arizona, the backway to Crown King climbs 26 miles from the desert north of Lake Pleasant through a historic mining area to end in the Prescott National Forest and the small town of Crown King. The trail is difficult and has a lot of places to test your vehicle. Vehicles attempting this trail should have high-clearance and 4WD. If you're attempting the optional difficult "obstacles", more modifications are necessary (lockers, skid plates, etc). Overall this trail is one of the best in Arizona - it's challenge and scenic and historic spots offer something for everyone. Allow for 3-6 hours.
