Bats were important animals for Mesoamerican tribes. One of the many Mayan cities is now know as El Zotz is located near a cliff where thousands of Mexican Free-tailed Bats emerge every night since over a thousand years ago. The King of this city-state once gave a prized mirror to a neighboring kingdom. This mirror was eventually dug up in Costa Rica in modern times. This video explores that link and the meaning of bats to the Mayan people.
