I actually got in to soap making through my love of growing fruit, herbs and vegetables, so it only seems right that we incorporate this into our soap making from time to time!
With this in mind, today we are using our own homegrown Pumpkin in our soap recipe. We will be creating an Autumnal soap, naturally coloured with a selection of different clays.
We will be using the in the pot swirl method to create the swirl in our soap today. We have left this soap unscented, but for a really Autumnal scent, I would recommend a blend of Patchouli, Sweet Orange and Cinnamon Leaf essential oils. Take care when using Cinnamon leaf oil as it is strong and in the UK you are only permitted to use a very small amount in soap making.
Follow our cold process recipe and tutorial for details on how you can make this at home!
Our soaps are all palm oil free and this one is vegan friendly too.
The ingredients we used for this soap are as follows:
Water 150g
Pumpkin Puree 70g
Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) 109g
Olive Oil 340g
Coconut Oil 184g
Shea Butter 75g
Cocoa Butter 38g
Castor Oil 57g
Sweet Almond Oil 99g
Red Moroccan Clay 1.5 tsp
Cocoa Powder 1tsp
Annatto Extract 1/4 tsp
