Brodick Castle is the most important historical building on Isle of Arran. It is located on large, scenic estate at the end of beautiful valley - Glen Rosa. Through the estate leads the trail to the highest mountain of the island - Goatfell. First mentions about Arran fortress are dated back to 5th century. The castle was rebuild and extended many times and was a seat of Duke of Hamilton for most of its history. Today it is managed by National Trust for Scotland and open to visitors. The castle's interiors are beautifully furnished and contain many historical artifacts. Guides are very friendly and helpful. Outside is the impressive walled garden full of colourful flowers, beautiful park full of Rhododendrons and other exotic plants as well as a folly in form of wooden tower with amazing pinecone decorations rising over the Brodick Bay Beach. There is also incredible section for children activities with many wooden structures, rope bridges and slides. All in all, visit to the Brodick castle is a day full of excitement.
