Today a VERY SHORT video on how to operate the reversing mechanism of my personal GRAIL, the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Duoface, reference number 270.8.54.
I decided to do this video as I have seen several videos on YouTube that show it in what I believe is the wrong way.
Let me know in the comments section, which "camp" you belong to?!
This model was introduced in 1994. as the first Reverso to feature an extra complication on the back side. Up until then, JLC Reverso had a plain metal caseback that was used for engravings and protection of the front crystal.
Although today, you can still buy the plain case model in all 3 sizes, I find Duoface to be the best value of them all, as you basically get 2 watches for the price of one!
Powered by an In-house made caliber 854 that is just 3,2 mm thick, the watch is incredibly thin at just 9.8mm which is very impressive given the fact it has double the number of dials and hands of a normal watch AND a flipping mechanism with a carriage!!
Jaeger Le Coultre is one of my favorite brands, that despite not being part of the Holy Trinity of watchmaking, I do feel they should be, as they supplied movements to all of the big three, Patek Phillipe, Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantine, which earned them the nickname a WATCHMAKERS WATCHMAKER.
Enjoy the video!!
